West Side Elementary School is the recipient of a US Fish and Wildlife Grant to implement a Native Plant Habitat Area. This area includes a student-planted Redwood Native Shade Garden and a native pollinator patch (50 plus plants!) along the path behind 4th, 5th, 6th. The native species include dogwood, manzanita, and many salvias. Signage and more to follow. Native plants use less water, are drought resistant and attract wildlife.
